Day Twenty-five: 11/30/2020 Ending November, recognizing endings and beginnings

 


Day 23:  This day was one of my college best friend's birthdays.  We became fast friends our first year in college and she is one of the most loyal, fierce, friends I have ever had.  She lives in Virginia with her spouse and two sons, my heart aches that I am not able to visit them now with COVID restrictions because I'm in a place financially and have the freedom with work to work remotely if need to.  Something to look forward to.  I've been wanting a kitten for awhile.  Our kitty Sensei ran away in September, I'm fairly certain she isn't living any longer.  I love young animals, not thinking we'll have four dogs again but a kitten - that would make my day.  In the mean time after checking in with my Aunt Gayle and hearing how my cousin Micah got a fish tank and is enjoying watching his play I decided it was time to get one myself.  Last night the tank arrived.  The rock should come tonight so I'll be able to get everything set up as it needs to prep for a week before I go buy some neon tetras.  As a little girl we always had fish.  The first fish I remember being mine I named teeter totter.  He was a black moore gold fish and he swam like a teeter totter!  I was probably 4 or 5.  I had neon tetras in first grade I believe.  It was a smaller aquarium we had on a dresser.  By middle school that was taken down and I helped care for two very large aquariums that had African Cichlids and then koi and goldfish in the other.  Because I didn't get home from work until a quarter to seven and was semi setting up the tank I didn't have much time to fold cranes.  I toyed for a moment, considering not folding any or just one and then I remembered I was 7 away from 800 folded.  So by the end of the night seven cranes were folded.  The photo above is of our youngest dog Lau, when he was a puppy.  His birthday is this coming Friday.  One of the sweetest, loving dogs I've ever had.   (800/1000)

  After a break on 12/17/20 came Days 42 to 44:  Thursday was rough.  The morning started with unpacking the car insurance deemed totaled.  Then there was the unexpected call that Ming's ashes had arrived.  Oh the tears fell; it felt like losing him all over again.  On Friday my friend Leslie brought over some other needles that I tried however the eyes of both needles were still too large to fit through the smallest beads.  Thankfully Saturday I got a bead kit with several tools including the right needles; the day was spent running errands and catching up on work so I didn't get to stringing any paper cranes. However I've been writing in preparation for another blog post for my private practice which morphed into a second writing that was polished to share with a group today.  All of this during this journey to 1000 paper cranes and so I've decided this one, will go here.   ******************* Through the Woods Over the hill & through the woods... Day Thirty-four: 12/9/2020 Started the work morning with a BANG

Day 34:  Driving to work I hit another car about three minutes from my office.  I headed earlier than normal because I worked a new client in (after telling myself not to take any new people for a minute).  Just as I pulled over she let me know she was running 10 minutes late so I responded I was not far but would be a minute as well.  The car was drive-able.....sort of with the frame bent in such a way the wheel was rubbing against it and the driver's side door while not damaged would not open but an inch.  I any case I wasn't hurt and the other driver wasn't hurt.  He was also really really nice.  This brought me such relief because I know people can be really shaken up after something like this and don't always react well.  Information was exchanged, he let me know he too worked just down the street and off we went.  I pulled in at exactly 8:30am at the same time my new client did (on time at that).  I wasn't scared, but I was sweating from the adrenaline dump.

Day Nineteen: 11/24/2020 The benefit of unexpected time

Day 19:  This day I was scheduled to have 8 clients, the max I will meet in a day.  This means little time to chart and making sure I keep sessions punctual.  The first client of the day forgot she had an appointment, not our regular day because of Thanksgiving so we did a partial session via phone.  My next client didn't wake up in time.  As he was checking in via text another client told me she would be unable to make her time due to babies not going down for a nap as expected.  I'm actually not that bothered because I have a days worth of charting from the previous day and some extra paperwork as a couple doctors offices had requested records.  The client who was texting me wrote something like the universe knew what I needed for the day.  After I got caught up, had lunch I actually was able to take a short nap before my afternoon sessions began.  By the end of the day I had one more cancellation due to car trouble so an 8 client day ended up being a 5 client day.  Five is a
