Day Thirty-four: 12/9/2020 Started the work morning with a BANG

Day 34:  Driving to work I hit another car about three minutes from my office.  I headed earlier than normal because I worked a new client in (after telling myself not to take any new people for a minute).  Just as I pulled over she let me know she was running 10 minutes late so I responded I was not far but would be a minute as well.  The car was drive-able.....sort of with the frame bent in such a way the wheel was rubbing against it and the driver's side door while not damaged would not open but an inch.  I any case I wasn't hurt and the other driver wasn't hurt.  He was also really really nice.  This brought me such relief because I know people can be really shaken up after something like this and don't always react well.  Information was exchanged, he let me know he too worked just down the street and off we went.  I pulled in at exactly 8:30am at the same time my new client did (on time at that).  I wasn't scared, but I was sweating from the adrenaline dump.  I let her know I needed to message my husband and get situated but even having her there while I got settled was helpful because I was focused.  Before noon my claim was submitted online (thank you State Farm for making things so darn easy), after lunch I had the confirmation that Auto Body Specialists would accept my car and AAA had Ray's towing on its way within the hour to take it away.  My lunch plans originally included a quick gift exchange with one of my soccer mates, instead she agreed to meet me after work and drive me home!  What I noticed today, despite the unplanned, unwelcomed, and inconvenient car crash I was super grateful nothing worse happened.  The car is not in the worst condition, I walked away unharmed, and everyone I came into contact with because of this was kind, helpful, and concerned.  That's a win in my book.

New topic - tree topper.  The only tree topper I have is something my family had growing up but it is about 12 inches and our little table top tree would look absurd with a topper that big.  I looked on Amazon and Etsy- nothing was really saying- you need me.  And then as I was sitting in my home office I realized I had an angel my friend Leslie made for me.  Some time ago she got into felting all the cutest things and she made this angel to look like me with Ming!  She is also my favorite color so this morning I added her to the tree.  She is a tiny bit big for it but the tree stands firmly so I think we are all good!

I haven't even mentioned paper cranes yet and isn't that the whole gist of this blog?  LOL.  Well I folded 4 cranes in the morning and with all of the events of the day was only able to fold 6 more before the day completed.  Remember that right wrist pain?  Yeah it is a bit worse since the accident.  I know I tensed up and must have been gripping the steering wheel.  So it was iced and thankfully my acupuncture appointment is today (12/10) so Sarah will be able to help me out.  (910/1000)
