Day Thirty-Two: 12/7/2020 Riding the highs and lows

One of my favorites of the origami paper. It's color is similar to the sea foam green my mom's car was but also has Koi which I also grew up with.


Day 32:  This day I woke up at 4:30am, my goal had been to sleep until 5am.  I'm blaming the time change.  In any case I had really good energy all morning.  By early evening I was beat.  Full day of clients (7) and was trying to catch up on charting from Friday (unsuccessfully).  I worked really hard to stay up until 9:30pm but probably passed out at 9:15pm.  Woke up and my right wrist, elbow, shoulder were feeling much better but by evening the pain had increased.  So only 10 paper cranes completed today.  I remember as a kid so looking forward to turning 10.  One I loved even numbers but I think it was also turning the double digits.  This was a big enough deal that I had a bigger girl birthday party, which I believe was driving to Willamalane swim pool possibly with snow falling?  If not I do remember it was cold!  I also think my mom drove (she has never liked driving) her old Chevy Biscayne with a handful of us in it.  It looked something like this:

Day Thirty-four: 12/9/2020 Started the work morning with a BANG

Day 34:  Driving to work I hit another car about three minutes from my office.  I headed earlier than normal because I worked a new client in (after telling myself not to take any new people for a minute).  Just as I pulled over she let me know she was running 10 minutes late so I responded I was not far but would be a minute as well.  The car was drive-able.....sort of with the frame bent in such a way the wheel was rubbing against it and the driver's side door while not damaged would not open but an inch.  I any case I wasn't hurt and the other driver wasn't hurt.  He was also really really nice.  This brought me such relief because I know people can be really shaken up after something like this and don't always react well.  Information was exchanged, he let me know he too worked just down the street and off we went.  I pulled in at exactly 8:30am at the same time my new client did (on time at that).  I wasn't scared, but I was sweatin...

Days Forty-Two to Forty-Four: 12/18/2020 to 12/20/2020 Through the Woods

  After a break on 12/17/20 came Days 42 to 44:  Thursday was rough.  The morning started with unpacking the car insurance deemed totaled.  Then there was the unexpected call that Ming's ashes had arrived.  Oh the tears fell; it felt like losing him all over again.  On Friday my friend Leslie brought over some other needles that I tried however the eyes of both needles were still too large to fit through the smallest beads.  Thankfully Saturday I got a bead kit with several tools including the right needles; the day was spent running errands and catching up on work so I didn't get to stringing any paper cranes. However I've been writing in preparation for another blog post for my private practice which morphed into a second writing that was polished to share with a group today.  All of this during this journey to 1000 paper cranes and so I've decided this one, will go here.   ******************* Through the Woods Over the hill & thro...

Day Twenty-six: 12/1/2020 December brings new projects, pause for reflection, & reminders to reach out

Day 26:  My nine client day turned in to eight, which I was thankful for because I got the much needed break and a little more time to get myself focused and organized.  After a long weekend, I really wanted one of my daily naps by late morning.  I had brought my origami paper hoping somewhere I might fold a crane.  That didn't happen.  I got home later than I had planned and found the rest of my fish tank supplies here.  So much of my evening was spent cleaning the decorations that were to go in the tank and then slowly filling the tank up with two 32 oz cups at a time.  Doesn't it look nice?  I really like the LED light and it has a blue tint and then regular lighting.  I'm so excited about getting my fish.  Also hoping the driftwood I have in there eventually sinks to the bottom but I guess fish can swim around it!  Did some more reading and they recommend one gallon per fish so I am only going to be able to fit five in here....
